The poem is about how a thunderstorm strips the city of its daytime heat, drives people off the streets, and briefly returns warmth to the walls and windows.
The background is a photo of my prefab-block courtyard before the downpour: an overcast sky, dim windows, thickened air.
The composition is built on the contrast between the turbulent sky and the rhythm of everyday human life, which freezes before the storm
