What is TOPAPPLE? At first glance — just a name. Out loud — "top L." But dig deeper and it could be anything: a brand, a store, a joke about status and ambition. We started with one thing: "top." Top means speed. It means racing. It means winning. That's where we kicked off.
The first idea was racing aesthetics. Rubber, tilt, the roar of the track, stickers on the bodywork and sponsor logos. I drew inspiration from tire typography, badges, all that visual madness of speed. But the deeper I went, the clearer it became: that aesthetic doesn't scale. It can't carry a universal mark, especially for a store. It's too niche, too… "race car."
Speed isn't always about the track. It can live in shape, in color, in effect.
In one iteration I challenged myself (and the conventions of graphic design): what if the logo isn't flat? What if it's not about rules, but about style?
That's how the final version was born — alive, bold, gradient, bursting into the frame rather than just standing there. This isn't just a typeface — it's a statement. It's that "top-tier" energy, without the rulebook. It works as a brand. As a position.
And yes, the competition is a little envious now. Because they have static. We have movement.
